STAGE Exact linear reduction for ODE models

Laboratoire d'informatique de l'École polytechnique (LIX) is a computer science laboratory of École Polytechinque doing research in many areas of computer science and applied mathematics. The internship will take place in the MAX team (http://www.lix.polytechnique.fr/max/max-web/max/max-home.en.html).

Description de la mission

Models based on differential equations used in life sciences can be huge (thousands or even millions of equations). However, it turns out that in many cases they can be "compressed" without introducing any approxiamtion errors to the quantities of interest.
The goal of the internship will be to improve/enhance the state-of-the-art software for such a compression (CLUE: https://github.com/pogudingleb/CLUE) in one of the following directions:
- improving interpretability of the results
- extending to a wider class of ODEs
- connecting to rule-based reduction methods

Profil recherché

The interns is expected to
- have programming experience in Python or Julia (experience with SymPy and/or Oscar is an advantage)
- have passed a linear algebra course with a good grade
